A Gallery of the the Morning Safari - Day 2

The second day dawned way to early, 5:00 AM, for breakfast and a 6:00 leaving for the morning safari. After the excitement of the previous afternoon and evening, followed by a traditional bush veld buffet dinner, I needed about 3 or 4 more hours of sleep, but it was not to be. I was up at 5:00 and ready to go at 6:00.

The day was to prove eventful in that we were able to complete the sighting of each of South Africa's "Big Five," lion, elephant, rhino, Cape Buffalo and leopard. The most elusive of the five, the leopard, had already been seen; we were very fortunate to have found them on our first first night out. As we left the compound for the morning safari, we only had to find the buffalo; we were not disappointed.

There were three safari-journeys on Saturday, the morning outing, a noon walk into the bush veld and then a repeat of Friday night (but with an added "in-the-bush" cocktail party - a decadent event that I could get used to). The noon walk and the evening outing will be shared in separate galleries. For now, please enjoy what I saw during the Saturday morning run-through-the-bush in the Land Rover.
