Our first evening drive introduced us to Nyiko, our ranger and guide, as well as the bitter cold of driving in an open Land Rover in the high veldt as the sun drops below the horizon. The excitement of the adventure and the blankets Nyiko provided helped, but a heater would have been a welcome addition. Regardless, we all survived and the sights were more than worth the physical discomfort.
