Once in a great while a person experiences a truly special event. In late March 2006 I had just such a treat. It is always a pleasure to visit with Raul and Mariana, two very good friends in Santiago, Chile, but my visit in March took a turn toward the spectacular when I was informed we would be spending a major portion of our visit in the south of Chile. Based out of Pucón at the east end of Lake Villarrica we visited two volcanoes (Lanin and Villarrica), hot springs, volcanic caves, hidden lagoons, experienced the thrill of Canopy, ate very well and just had one of those special times that will last in our memories for years to come.
