Galapagos Islands 2019

Welcome to our Galapagos Islands photo gallery where you will see unique high quality images of the flora and fauna of the Galapagos archipelago. The Galapagos Archipelago contains some of the rarest and most unusual life forms in the World, and is known as perhaps the World’s most important natural laboratory. Imagine a place so unusual that one of every 2 species you encounter when exploring the Galapagos National Park occurs nowhere else on the planet. Imagine a land spewed forth by undersea volcanoes, only the highest of which are visible atop one of the richest marine environments known to humankind, a place teeming, both on land and undersea, with creatures that are rare or non-existent elsewhere. Imagine a place molded foremost by its remote isolation yet frequented for centuries by pirates, explorers, scientists and the most famous naturalist ever to live. This is the Galapagos, an archipelago of 120 islands, rocks and outcroppings straddling the Equator 600 miles due west of Ecuador in South America. Separated by thousands of generations from their ancestors, Galapagos plants and animals transformed themselves to cope with the unique environments of the Galapagos, where evolution created completely new species found nowhere else. Amazingly nearly half of the naturally occurring Galapagos species and endemic (naturally occurring nowhere else). A place where almost all creatures have no fear of man allowing us to approach within feet or inches of creatures who normally would be long gone at our mere sight.
Above info from National Geographic Endeavour.

We have visited the Galapagos in 2005, 2013, 2015 and 2019 on photography expeditions with Lindblad / National Geographic,
I must say it was nice to see a healthy rebound of many species.
