Fledging Stage

As time progresses, their intake of fish increases dramatically as the parents do their rounds feeding the chicks and themselves. The chicks at this time can actually stretch their wing feathers to put them in place. They also like to hop into the direction of the wind to try out their lift. There is a lot of preening and opening up of the feathers. Normally it takes the parents cohersion to get the juvs to take flight and try for themselves. The adults may dive at the chicks from the side to force them to take flight. This can be done to drive them to safer grounds or make them practise.
