Broken Wing Trick - Day 1 (noon)

Adult male tries to distract predator from the nest by feigning a broken wing. This is complemented by sharp shreeks and sand kicking. While he was doign this, juv 1 ran back to the nest mount to inform the juv 2 (younger one) to scoot. He looked sleepy, but suddenly sprang up and zipped off the nest to join the female adult which was nearby supervising. The female again looks as fierce as she can wih beaks opening and shutting deliberately as if she will bite if threatened. She hides behind the sand mounts with the predator always visible to her. She is ready to scoot anytime she senses trouble. The chicks promptly locate their mother and get some warmth and comfort. Even so, the female continously looks for safer ground and would move off. The chicks will automatically follow one bound behind her, with mommy giving "clicks" to tell them where she it hiding.
