A few recent (Spring, 2009) developments/improvements that have been employed: Mount upgrades - the addition of Ovision Worm assemblies, McLennan gearboxes and replacing the Oldham couplers with bellows couplers. Maxon motors on both the RA and DEC drives. An 18 volt power supply and a powered USB hub. Overall, the mount upgrades resulted in an uncorrected periodic error of +/- 3 arc-seconds, down from approx. +/-6 arc-seconds. The advent of the Bahtinov focusing mask - enables quick, precise focus. Dithering - Nebulosity communicates with PHD Guide for automatic dithering. The Q453HR camera - essentially a Nikon D50 (7.8 um pixels), but with TEC cooling and 16 bit processing (a somewhat simplified description).
