Getting the Red Out

Balancing the Colors of a modified Canon Rebel XT.
A summary of the method used to eliminate the red tint inherent in modified cameras, where the IR filter has been removed. These 2 images are the before and after using Canon's Raw Image Processing (ZoomBrowser/Tools/Process RAW Images).
Select the raw image (copy to a temporary folder since the utility updates the date/timestamp on the file). Select Tools/Process Raw Images and under Image Quality Adjustment, use the "eyedropper" to adjust the white balance. Point to a neutral (not necessarily white) portion of the image (more than likely what woule be black sky). The adjustment is almost instantaneous and you can then save as 16-bit TIFF, linear, and perform the remaining processing, such as DDP, in your image processing software. I use ImagesPlus for DDP and then Registar for aligning and combining. See the M42 image in the parent folder.
