Victory! The hard-working Rare Bear team are champions. On a cold and wet Sunday they ran a technical race. Lyle Shelton's Rare Bear, flown by John Penny, was second to come across the finish line but the win was theirs due to a pylon cut by the race leader. John Penny saw Skip Holm in Dago Red cut the pylon and calculated what it would take for the Bear to win. The windscreen in Dago Red had fogged up and Skip was unable to see much of anything. The Bear Crew worked on the troubled Bearcat all week long, skipping sleep, meals, and parties. It was a race that will never be forgotten and was a well deserved victory.
