With qualifying for the Reno Air Races just a week away, this picture focuses on the action of the world's fastest motorsport. Seen here, former Astronaut Hoot Gibson, in Mike Keenum's Riff Raff, is being chased by Nelson Ezell in Howard Pardue's Fury. Both aircraft started life out as British-built Hawker Sea Furies, but have since been modified. The most notable change is replacing the original Bristol Centaurus engine with a Wright R-3350.
