When the raccoon first saw me it made a hasty retreat.
Unfortunately, the place it chose to hide, an abandoned beaver lodge, was much too close to geese nesting nearby.
The goose swam back and forth in front of the raccoon, constantly voicing displeasure at it being so close to their nest.
The raccoon eventually vacated the lodge.
