Black-crowned Night-Heron

Ottawa, Ontario

A backyard visitor.

Two years ago one had visited our small pond and sampled the fish. http://www.pbase.com/witsend/image/126166132
Maybe it's the same one(?) He did not leave the hedge this time. Maybe he's saving his fishing expedition for another time. Last year a Great Blue Heron caught almost all of the fish.

We had one of these in our line of trees along the perimeter of our yard. They are such beautiful birds, aren't they? Charming capture of your little fish-eating visitor! :)
