I've seen geese fight geese, mallards fight mallards, and geese chase mallards but this was the first time I'd seen a goose attack a mallard.

Geese and ducks had been feeding together in a small area of the bay. Suddenly the goose grabbed the mallard's wing and soon began pushing the mallard under the water.




The goose eventually pushed the mallard right under the water and held it there for several seconds.



The mallard was finally successful in breaking back to the surface though it remained in the goose's tight grasp. A few seconds later the mallard broke free, fleeing from his attacker.
