A local feeder has always attracted snowshoe hares which will feed on food that is on the ground. Yesterday two hares appeared, each in a slightly different stage of colour change. I'd seen another one at the same feeder over the Christmas holiday period that had completely changed. No wonder a Fisher was also recently seen near the feeder: snowshoe hares are on his diet!
1st hare: Still with a considerable amount of brown fur. I'd seen this one several weeks ago when he was only about 1/2 white. http://www.pbase.com/witsend/image/131346360
