Melinda-It's interesting to think about the role of color in texture since I would venture to say that if this were a red flower those 'hairs' would be more 'dangerous and coarse' then they are here and you have the color white to thank for that-it renders these hairs as 'soft to the touch' due to the "innocence" of white.
