Hiroshima
January 28, 2005
It needs no introduction, I think.
My Bulgarian buddy Petko and I in front of the Atomic Bomb Dome (原爆ドーム) in Hiroshima
One of the many memorials
Tribute to the Koreans who died along with the Japanese
A bomb-blasted tombstone, knocked over
The main memorial in Peace Park
The bridge near the hypocenter of the atomic bomb explosion
The Gembaku Dome from a distance.
The tablet marking the hypocenter...
580 meters above that little brown stone was the exact point where the bomb exploded over Hiroshima.
The new city of Hiroshima.
The Gembaku Dome was originally an industrial expo hall, and was left it in its bomb-shattered state as a memorial.
Other than a few structural reinforcements, it remains exactly as it did after the bomb.
Japanese protesting Self-Defense Force deployment in Iraq
And finally, a little Engrish to cheer you up.
