Travemünde is one of those places were the inner-German border was even more absurd. The bank I am standing on used to be West-Germany and what I am photographing used to be East-Germany. We were so close, yet impossible to reach. One of the reasons to build the huge Maritim Hotel ( https://pbase.com/wintermeer/image/173951844 ) was tourism but at the same time it was meant as a visible "in-your-face" towards the east.
