These soda bottles have a 5 cent deposit on them. Many people rely on collecting those from the trash to scrounge up some extra money. Most companies joined a scheme to encourage costumers not to throw them into but to place them next to the bins. Bad enough that people have to collect bottles for a living,they should not have to rummage through the trash.
