During ebb tide one can walk from Cuxhaven to the nearby island of Neuwerk. While it is strongly advisable to join a guided tour, it could be done on your own- the route is marked ( the reeds you see in the picture) and guarded from shore. Visitors to the island may also choose to go by horse-drawn carriage
