The World Clock at Alexanderplatz was erected in 1969. It soon became the go-to-place in East Berlin, "Meet me at the World Clock at X p.m." became a household phrase in town. It really makes you think, whoever had that idea was one sick puppy- "well, you can't go west but you get to know what time it is there!"
