Hoffmann von Fallersleben

While staying on Heligoland in 1841 he wrote the lyrics for "Song of Germany",its third stanza is used as the national anthem nowadays. Heligoland attracted a lot of thinkers- in 1925 Werner Heisenberg came to the island to find relief from hay fever while working on the concept of quantum mechanics

Nice shot of this sculpture. I bet a lot of people nowadays don't know who he was, or that the music for the German National anthem comes from Haydn's "Emperor" String Quartet. "V"
