Nowadays this little hut is a waiting room at a pier for the ferries crossing Kiel Bay ( much like a bus service). It began its life as a stand selling soda to yard workers. This was established and run by local women who were sick and tired of their husbands getting off the ferries and spending the day's wages in the bars
