The german coast has extensive areas of mudflats which are accessible at low tide. Taking a guided tour and hiking across those is a well loved pastime for locals and visitors alike.
Generally those tours start and end at the beach. Since the captain of Wega II is a certified guide, she offers a special tour- she takes her ship out to the lighthouse at Hohe Weg, where it is allowed to fall dry. Passengers then get to walk around for awhile on the flats and the ship returns to port with the oncoming tide
