Built in 1885, in operation until 1964 when it was replaced by the Alte Weser Lighthouse. Until a couple of years ago people could actually spend a night there- right now it is closed for economical reasons. It was the first off-shore bulding in Germany and for many emigrants "a last farewell from the old world" as they traveled into a future unknown
