Such round concrete pads are used for take off and landing- it is not really needed for the airship but for the movable mooring mast. In this case the mast is mounted on a 32 ton-truck which pulls it from and back to the hangar. On the perimeter of the tarmac you can see yellow bags of lead shot which are used to trim the airship
