An outdoor public sculpture by Larry Kirkland at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building in Denver, CO. Made in 2003 of carrara marble, cast bronze, and gold leaf, the installation is on the corner of Colfax Avenue and 14th Street.
The work consists of a large, two-sided head, which faces both east and west. This "Janus" head is pierced by a square opening, in which hangs a golden plumb-bob, a tool used to obtain a true vertical in construction. The courtyard around this central element is paved with marble inscribed with longitude and latitude lines, and historic maps of Denver.
