MoveOn.org vigil

On Thursday, January 11, 2007, the day after President Bush announced his plan to send more than 21,000 additional American troops to fight in Iraq, there were thousands of protest demonstrations and vigils in cities, towns and rural areas across the United States. Here in the Detroit area, there were at least three such demonstrations.

The one I attended was coordinated by local members of MoveOn.org and was called the Emergency Rally to Stop the Escalation in Iraq. It started at 5:30 p.m. on the corner of a busy intersection in Royal Oak, Michigan, a city a couple miles north of Detroit's city limits. For over an hour on this chilly evening, 200 persons of all ages lined the sidewalk holding up signs so the rush hour commuters could see us, and honk if they agreed. We got LOTS of honks!

But will it matter to our imperial president? Does the will of the people EVER matter to such people? I leave this question unanswered...

Well, well, well. Dear Ms. Lay-Dorsey. It seems that your choice for President has just made his second increase in troop levels in Afghanistan. He just announced an increase of 30,000 troops, which, when added to the 15,000 additional troops he added in February of this year, totals 45,000 additional American men & women added to this war effort. I eagerly await your photos of your Obama White House Vigil of war protest. Since you are such an ardent Obama supporter, I'm sure that he and Michelle will invite you in for a warm cup of hot chocolate. NOT! "Peace loving" people like you are such frauds, hiding behind the veil of "peace," you are nothing other than Democratic operatives, whose only true mission is the empowerment of leftist politicians. Your "cause" has NOTHING to do with peace. My comment is not a message of hate. I am only pointing out the undeniable hypocrisy of your "cause." Where is your MoveOn outrage? Where is your MoveOn vigil? Where are your personal photos of protest? Prove me wrong.

One who just authorized an additional 15,000 troops to be sent to Afghanistan. Are you going to protest him? Is he now our "imperial president?" Where is the outrage, Ms. Lay-Dorsey? Where are the MoveOn.org organized protests now? Will you be traveling to Washington to hold a Peace Vigil in front of Obama's White House? Or do you only get upset when a Republican President tries to defend our country?
