This is a really nice image, so many stories swirl out of it... I see anticipation more than grief... perhaps anticipation of something no longer arriving, replaced by something arriving too soon. great image.
And I also find this image says more of what I wanted to say than all the others combined. Occasionally things come together in ways you couldn't have planned and all you can feel is grateful. That's what happened here. Now maybe in time I'll be like my teacher Phil Douglis and be able to set up such an exposure at will. Until then I'll count my lucky stars whenever I get what I wanted!
I agree with h2m and Roy, Patricia. This is closest to Hopper in terms of mood and manner. The blacks in his paintings are like shrouds of grief. I see that here as well. Have you seen Marisa Taddia's homage to Degas and Lautrec athttp://www.pbase.com/mlt/meeting_the_light ?
My fav in this gallery, the intentions of Hopper is IMO best portrayed here, the deep shadows and the mysterious, lonely figure is the reason for this.My kind of shot.Bravo!:-)
