the power of her convictions

Maureen Taylor of the Michigan Welfare Rights Organization speaks of the human cost here at home of President Bush's war on Iraq. She was one of dozens of speakers today, including Detroit's U.S. Representative John Conyers, Jr., who told hundreds of fed-up Detroiters that Congress must use its only legal means to stop this war, and that is to refuse to approve any more funds. It's called the power of the purse-strings.

Great shot.
Why won't the democrats allow a vote to cut off funding instead of a non-binding resolution?
