Cher and I spent five days in southern Germany and Austria, with Munich as the home base. We played tourist in Munich for two days, and took train trips to Nuremberg, Salzburg, and Innsbruck. We had some clear weather, some cold rain, and some heavy snow. Munich was cold, but it is an interesting city at any time of year. We had a nice sunny day to walk around the giant English Garden (a four-mile long park), and we had a cold, rainy day to visit museums, churches, and the famous HofbrauHaus beer garden. The Stadt Museum (City Museum) had an interesting display showing how most of the city's beautiful buildings looked (1) before WW II, (2) bombed out right after WW II, and (3) now - with them all restored.
