This rose is a native of China, bought into cultivation here in 1893. It was planted as a windbreak for cattle on the Texas coast, it has spread to become a noxious pest. (John Tveten, Wildflowers of Houston and Southeast Texas) They grow thick and inpenetrable, 6' high and up to 20' wide. These flowers were at least 8' from the ground.
