Northern Lights in Tampere
You might have heard that the Aurora Borealis,
i.e. Northern Lights, can only be seen in the far north, and only in winter.
Quite the contrary; the Northern Lights also flash over Tampere, all year round!
A lot of people in the city monitor the sky to forecast the appearance of Northern Lights.
As a result, a special page was created on Facebook for anyone interested to read about Northern lights forecasts in Tampere.
The latest information about the likelihood of Northern Lights can be found in the group Aurora alerts in Finland,
in which the inhabitants of different cities in Finland share observations
and forecast on a daily basis.
As soon as there is a promising forecast,
fans with cameras gather round to the waterfront sauna of Rauhaniemi
to watch the lights switch on above lake Näsijärvi.
