This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was started in 1121 AD. Even after 86 years of toil it remained unfinished and there are literally thousands of exquisite hard stone carvings on the exterior. In front of the shrine sits a huge Nandi Bull. There are nine tiers of carvings on the exterior from elephants running round the entire first tier to beautiful carvings of Gods & Godesses at the top. Some damage was done to the temple when the Muslims invaded in the fourteenth century but this does not detract from the fantastic skill of the stone masons. The Images are like lacework!!
Should be a World Herotage Site.
