Doel

Doel, a little village in Belgium near the Dutch border.
A quiet lovely place situated between the harbor of Antwerpen and a nuclear plant.
Who was first, the village or the nuclear power-station.
And what was the influence of the harbor on politics.
The harbor of Antwerp wants to be bigger and money wins always so.....
The inhabitants had to leave and under protest a few of them stayed and fight.
A unique place but too close to the harbor and the factory!
The graffiti on the walls express their feelings.
In july 2014 there was a sabotage in the nuke factory.
It had to close down for several days.
Happily for the Belgium and Dutch people no danger this time, because the sabotage was dicovered early.

What an expressive collection of images to document this little town! Very arresting gallery...we can all feel their pain through the artwork that really does tell the story. Opening with that first image of the windmill with the nuke plant is a particularly disturbing reality. So very well done!
