It was in the first half of the sixties, when british groups like the Stones, Yardbirds, Animals and others
discovered the music of the old black american blues legends,
came out with cover versions of their material,
and next started to play together with their idols.
Thus, the songs and artists like Muddy Waters, Sony Boy Williamson and many others,
finally got the attention and popularity they deserved.
This is one of my all time favourite blues classics. I donīt know, how many versions I have,
but I still prefer the Rolling Stones one back from 1964
(apart from Muddy Waters live on stage somewhere back in the eighties).
And okay, okay, I know the pic doesnīt show a rooster, but at least itīs a bit red.
LITTLE RED ROOSTER
(Willie Dixon)
(sung by the Rolling Stones)
I am the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow for day
I am the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow for day
Keep everything in the farm yard upset in every way
The dogs begin to bark and hounds begin to howl
Dogs begin to bark and hounds begin to howl
Watch out strange cat people
Little red roosters on the prowl
If you see my little red rooster
Please drive him home
If you see my little red rooster
Please drive him home
Aint had no peace in the farm yard
Since my little red roosters been gone
