Fooling around a bit for the essence of Rock´n Roll.
Among all those classic numbers from the early days of rock way back in the fifties,
this is the one for me: Johnny B Goode by Chuck Berry.
In 2004 the Rolling Stone magazine published a list of the 500 greatest songs of all times,
regarding Johnny B Goode as number seven.
It´s also part of the 'Sound of Earth' message, sent to outer space with Voyager 1 and 2,
to give aliens an impression of human race.
So let´s hope, aliens like rock´n roll (LOL).
Numerous great artists have covered the song or adapted the riffs for something new.
My favourite is the reggae version by Peter Tosh:
JOHNNY B GOODE (PETER TOSH)
'...Mama said: "Son, you gotta be a man,
You got to be the leader of a reggae band
People comin' in from miles around
To hear you play until the sun goes down
Boy, someday your name will be in the lights
Sayin' JOHNNY - JOHNNY B. GOODE TONITE"
I said go, go Johnny!
Johnny be good tonight!
Said go, go Johnny!
Johnny you better be good...'
