These are really beautiful pictures and they brought back some wonderful memories, when life was simple and carefree. I grew up in Desert Center from '52-'60 and would love to see pictures that you may have of the cafe and aligator mountain.

Beautiful pictures of my old stomping grounds. Lived there from 1952 to 1982. Every weekend throughout the year, or until it got too hot, you'd find me and my family exploring the desert between Indio and Blythe. We had many interesting experiences and discoveries.

The family cafe is where they gathered in the height of day to cool off. The bus would stop and when the tourist got off for lunch, dad and Mr. Ragsdale would be playing cards and would lay out a long string of rattles they had gathered from rattle snakes and sell them to the tourist, little did the tourist know - when you soak the rattles they will part and you can line up two or three snake rattles then when they would dry they looked as if they came off of one BIG rattle snake.

Your pictures are wonderful. My parents lived there when they were first married (1930's) dad ran a mine crew - Grandfather had a gold mine there - Dad built them a cabin up by the mine - I have some wonderful OLD pictures and many stories of Stanley Ragsdale, mom and dad. As for the mine - dad said -yes there is gold there but it cost too much to get it out.... I remember the rattlesnake stories.... Thank you again...

I'm Gino from France! Did you use the same IR filter model (Hoya R72) for this gallery? I recenlty ordered one and asked to my self which kind of photographs could it be. the B+W 900nm is terrific (just see the Daniella gallery).

Fascinating!!! Great composition. your work is really an inspiration for many of us... on observation though.. can you separate the b&w photos into a separate gallery... it will just add more quality to your outstanding work...

Very impressed by your IR work, especially if Coco was with you when you shot them! I have a very hard time mixing my dogs with photography, though I keep trying :-)

Hi Wendy,your IR shots look like wonderful wintershots.In my country I don`t need IR filters to get wintershots ;) I think you are living in a nice area of America always best fitted for beautiful pictures.Franz
