My husband and I are currently in Beijing (Aug 13,2006) and we have visited many of the sites you display in your picture gallery. Our overwhelming impression has been one of pollution, poverty and third world standards. While the China ministry for 2008 Olympic Games boasts of cleaning up pollution and traffic problems during the next two years - in the last 30 days we have only witnessed two clear sky days. The rest have been so thick with pollution haze that at times you cannot see clearly a building across the street and you can taste the air pollution in your mouth as well as smell it. This makes for a very unpleasant time in the outdoors and puts in question the health safety of visitors to the Olympic Games. In our opinion the Chinese have a lot of work to do!!

A very nice gallery! I have a silly question to ask: did you use tripod for those night shots? The night scenes look good so I imagine you were with a tripod. But carrying a tripod while walking in the street sounds crazy to me :) Thanks for sharing.
