My hometown from years ago. Orange is situated in the NSW central tablelands. It is on the western side of the Great Dividing Range, 261 km west of Sydney and 863 m above sea level.
Originally known as Blackman's Swamp 'Orange' was named by Thomas Mitchell in honour of the Prince of Orange, who later became the King of Holland.
'Orange', is an accidental naming because it has no connection with citrus; but grows apples and also now has large grape crops.
