The USATC S160 Class No. 2253 "Omaha" is a historic 1943 steam locomotive that recently finished a landmark conversion from coal to an oil-burning system on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) in June 2026.
This project marks the first full-size steam locomotive oil conversion in the UK since the end of the steam era.
Its original use was to haul heavy freight trains, clear supply lines, and support military logistics and transport operations during World War II in Europe.
