Jacques Du Broeucq, 16th century Dutch carver and architect, created many masterpieces for Mons cathedral.
Some of his work was taken down during the French Revolution (such as the screen)
but quite a few of his works were removed in time for safe storage and reinstated at a later date.
Often Maître Jacques Du Broeucq is referred to as the Michelangelo of the north.
