Working on site in Sydney, I often get bogged down by the sheer volume of paperwork flying back and forth between the office and the ground crew. Specifically, the terminology can sometimes be a bit fuzzy depending on which subcontractor you are talking to. I needed a clear definition to settle a dispute we were having about documentation protocols. Searching for what is an RFI in construction led me to an article that explained the purpose and scope of these requests perfectly. It turns out we were misusing the form for simple clarifications that should have been emails. The distinction made in the text helped us streamline our communication channels significantly. I really enjoyed the practical examples that showed how a well-written RFI can save time. It's a small part of the job, but getting it right makes the daily grind much smoother. My site supervisor was pretty impressed when I explained the new protocol to him.
