She couldn't get up this morning. I laid on the bed with her and held her for about an hour. She only whimpered twice while we laid there. It wasn't pain, I think she was worried, because she couldn't get up and wet the bed a little. My dad took us to the vet, they were wonderful. I took Taco there in her little bed, and they let her stay in there. Before the vet came, I held her and talked to her for a little. She was very subdued but aware. I think she knew she was dying and knew I was there to help her, or maybe she knew I needed to say goodbye.
I held her the whole time. She went very softly and peacefully. I stayed with her for a little while, she just looked like she was asleep, curled up in her bed like always. I petted her and talked to her a little more. I left her there just like that, in her bed, a good way for me to remember seeing her. She was a good dog.
First day home.
