Thanks, madhatter. Yes, I got lucky to get close enough. I had been too lazy to carry the 70-200f/2.8 today, so the 24-70 had to make do. The pic is slightly cropped from the original. Before resizing for the Web, this image was about 2500 pixels in width. As I kept inching closer to this dragonfly, it took off several times, but within seconds came right back to the same spot.
