I assume you shot this at La Jolla Cove, and yes, it is an Osprey. Nice dynamic shot.

All ospreys, regardless of the subspecies, nest and hunt by the sea and are sometimes called "sea hawks." Although found worldwide, they seek out similar habitats. Wonderful bird. And while the osprey is dining, let's give the photographer a nice sardine lunch for this action shot!
