The Seminole Theater has been a fixture in Homestead Florida since Nov 26, 1921 when it opened as a silent movie theater. It was partially destroyed in a fire in Mar 0f 1940 but restored and reopenerd in August of that year. It was extremely popular during the war years but closed in 1979. The theater is now under reconstruction and renovation and that activity looked to be well under way when I was there in January of 2009. The theater will be used for classic movies and as a playhouse.
