The Paramount Theater, Austin, TX

The Paramount's history is long and varied and too long to set forth here. It was built in 1915 as The Majestic Theater and has showcased vaudeville, live venues and movies since it was built. It is a classic revival building. The Paramount was active during the war years and sold many war bonds to aid the war effort. The Theater fell into disrepair in the 70s and was eventually rebuilt by new owners. It is one of the only theaters left to have shown the premiere of Casablanca. The theater now showa a mix of live acts and plays as well as movies and is active in the South by Southwest (SXSW) film festival in Austin each March.
