The Harvey Houses

The Harvey Houses were a chain of restaurants built along the Santa Fe railroad right of way in the Southwest. Construction started in about 1875 and at their peak there were about 84 restaurants. They were built by Fred Harvey, an English immigrant and restaurateur. Many of the Harvey houses have been preserved and are now used in a variety of endeavors.
