The Fannin Battleground (A Gallery)

The Fannin State Historic site was established to memorialize the battle of Coleto Creek on this site during the Texas war for independence. Colonel Fannin and his troops were eventually defeated and captured by the Mexican army. They were taken to nearby Goliad and eventually executed at the order of General Santa Anna. Thus the battle cry "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad" was born.
