The Brauntex theater in New Braunfels was built in and opened in 1942 around the time of the attack on Pearl harbor. It operated all the way throufgh the 50s and 60s as a movie theater and at one point was converted to two screens, one upstairs and one downstairs. The upstairs tockets were 40 cents and downstairs were 50 cents. I could not determine when it closed, It was refurbished and reopened in 1998 as a performing arts theater which it remains to this day. The upstairs theater was torn out during the refurbishing and the balconey restored.
